Acquiring the fruit of the pear tree

Light becomes food
8.3.2017

Pear shape is the Earth
Nourishing energy
Flowing from sky and ground
Forming sweet fruit

Back in the studio...energy reforming
8.6.2017

Digesting pear
8.7.2017

Pear meets vessel - the resonance I felt in Vermont is entering the studio and I'm inviting it to be part of the work.
8.8.2017

8.9.2017

Images of vessels reappeared full force as I returned to the studio but they are no longer isolated - they seem to reside now in different contexts. Today's drawing looks to me like an archeological relic, buried in sedimentary layers, and waiting for unearthing.

Vessel rocks
on ocean's waves,
always open,
rise or fall.
8.11.2017

A vessel emerging from rocks is counterintuitive but, if you think about it, that's exactly what happened.
8.12.2017

Our family project of planting and tending peach trees has reached fruition.
8.13.2017

In touch with the local oaks about the extent of their network

8.15.2017

Who doesn't breathe the atmosphere?
Who could live apart from Earth?
Our limbs are entangled
and our roots not separate
from any other living thing.

8.17.2017

Fabric so vast
so fine
so pervasive
tiny wrinkles form atoms
great folds galaxies

8.18.2017

Many hours of silence empty the vessel

8.20.2017

Earth vessel pulled through vast seas

The weight of the sky
8.22.2017

My family travels to London
while I remain home
traveling inward,
taking day hikes along
trails of nondescript lines,
hampered by busy streams
of self-critical dialog,
no map, but driven by
a vague hope of reaching
some heretofore undiscovered plateau.

All alone
I'm sensitive now
to every shadow
and dark corner
of my empty house.
I talk to myself
and imagine things,
of course,
but becomming an experienced
inner tourist means
I keep practicing,
making drawings,
just sitting,
taking in the sights.

8.28.2017

Many vessels on the river
Lit by the same sun
8.29.2017

Simply my awakeness
reacting to sensations
getting pulled into an argument
listening to the news

Breath awareness broken
second arrow bullseye
turbulent vacation
ruined ecstasy

Making bad decisions
leaving something home
too late for a promise
the tightness comes and goes

The fishbowl we all live in
