9.16.2011 By using nature to bridge the cycles, my whole brain participates in the drawing practice. One thing the last few weeks of sketching plants has taught me is that the information that comes from my eyes is fundamentally the same as the visual information from my imagination. In other words, at the level of understanding, sensory impressions of plants are equal to sensory impressions of pretend plants.

The plants in the drawings are going to share the stage and eventually get taken over by more abstract drawings. If you get disoriented, please remember that all the weird forms and colors you will see spring from the seeds of ideas growing naturally and spontaneously within the landscape of my mind.
