What if human beings are just the cells in an emergent, larger organism, one waiting to be born, and our overrunning the planet with individuals and depleting the natural resources are the necessary crises to trigger birth?

The rim of the vessel in this drawing makes me think of a Mobius strip and wonder what kinds of 'containers' flip the boundary between inside and out. [the klein bottle is one example -Ed.]

Looks like we'll get up to two feet of snow from the Nor'easter headed our way tonight. A blip on a global scale. Possibly more challenging up close.
3.13.2017

With ragged breath, through the two-foot-plus deep snow, getting to the barn, not even bothering to shovel a path that would just as soon be filled in by windblown drifts, having just enough time for a quick improvisational drawing before the darkness approaching, I make my marks and this acorn appears on the page, surrounded by white, as if the promise of great growth and the nearness of spring all depend on being okay with the cold and a little patience.
3.14.2017

Which drifts more in these weathery days, the piles of snow or my attention?
3.15.2017

Heartwood, storm tested, self aware, pithy core, fiber and air, rooted in a planet, experiencing each moment, just like every other moment, from germination to decay.
3.16.2017

Trying unsuccessfully to characterize the dimensionality of the spaces surrounding the vessels but keeping my mind open for ideas, when late in the morning, as I glanced up from a drawing and noticed this half finished card propped up on my table, bright sunlight streamed in, casting a shadow of a paint bottle, and making the card glow. I quickly sketched the bottle's outline and filled the areas with wash capturing a naturally occurring resonant combination; a space simultaneously improvised and seen.

Cotton Field

In Louisiana, the moon over
the cotton field where I ran
was my beacon, drawing me
away from home.

Alone late at night
I raised my hands and
I raised my chest,
arched my back,
And I projected myself into the deep dark
bed of stars, begging for absorption.

Often I would feel them transmitting
data into my abdomen,
Information I could not see or understand
but a feeling
I intuitively knew would unfold as wisdom
over the course of my life.
