A monk in robes receiving teachings from a spirit in the trees.
I think a lot about the source of creativity and the stories we tell to explain the things we create. Moses got the ten commandments by listening to a disembodied voice on a mountain? A little boy in Switzerland named Carl Jung used to sit in his backyard and hold conversations with a voice in a rock. Later he introduced the idea of projection. Are the ideas outside of us coming in or are they inside of us and we just make them up? When I sat down to draw this afternoon I only intended to be a vehicle for the creative process and this image of transmission appeared. Or maybe my desire for meaning transformed this scribble scrabble into the story I am telling. |
