When I was in high school, my mother and I would brainstorm about possible science fair projects.
One year she suggested I read about the four color map theorem. It states that no more than four colors are required to shade the regions of a map so that no two adjacent regions have the same color. I eventually choose a different topic but the concept never left me. Who could have known how deeply that idea would influence the way I choose to arrange color? |
